Important News!!!!

As you might know, the Gulf Coast of the United States is in the midst of an environmental disaster of proportions we will probably never know in our lifetimes. The effects on wildlife is devistating and unimagineable. The people of the regions affected are in truly a bad place . The economy is poor right now and for these people, it just got much worse. Most of the people I know along the Venice,LA area are are fisherman or rely on fishing, either sport or commercial, for thier livelyhood. These people are fighting everyday now to clean up the mess that BP has caused.  Our good thoughts go out to them and their families and I sincerely hope BP can stop the flow soon so the healing can begin.

Unfortunately, the horrible situation this has caused does not end in the Gulf Region, it goes far beyond. We at Abigail's Smokehouse are feeling the effects ourselves in the form of much higher prices than anticipated. We are doing everything we can to keep costs the same as they have been, however, we do know that it cannot be for long. The Gulf Coast is an important port that seafood moves through and the oil flow has caused a redistribution of product to other ports throughout the US and the World for the matter. This is in addition to to the problems the local fisherman face. It is a lose-lose all the way along. The people of the region lose, we as seafood purveyors lose and you, consumer loses too.

As prices go up, bare with us. We will do our best to keep the raise in price as low as we possibly can. You can help us and help the people of the Gulf Region by buying fish and seafood at this time. By keeping seafood a staple of diets in the U.S. we can keep the market alive and thriving and give the industry as a whole the boost it needs in these times to keep going. The fishermen need jobs to go back to when the flow stops and the oil gets mopped up.
